DRASH Shelter Systems to support USO at 2011 Military Bowl

WASHINGTON, DC – On December 28, 2011, thousands of service members along with their families and sports fans are expected to pour into the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial (RFK) Stadium. They will watch the United States Air Force Falcons take on the Toledo Rockets in the 2011 Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman. The game will air live on ESPN at 4:30 p.m. EST.

DHS Technologies LLC, a military contractor most known for its line of Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelter (DRASH) Systems will be on hand at this year’s game to help the United Services Organization (USO) establish an on-site shelter footprint in the bowl’s Military Village. DHS Technologies is providing several DRASH Shelter Systems, which have been deployed by the military in Iraq and Afghanistan and used for all kinds of applications such as Command and Control Centers to Field Hospitals and Life Support Areas. The DRASH Shelters will be utilized by the USO on game day to help them establish a more robust facility for service personnel under a footprint that is much larger than they have done so in past. The company, which has already collaborated with the USO many times this year, is thrilled that they can continue to help the USO raise awareness about their mission as well as demonstrate its commitment to hard-working service members.

“The Military Bowl promises to be an amazing afternoon shared with thousands who enjoy one of college’s greatest football games,” says Ron Houle, Vice President for Government Relations at DHS. “But this game also serves an excellent venue to raise awareness for great organizations like the USO who are dedicated to making things just a bit easier for our service personnel.”

The goals of the Military Bowl are to bring the excitement of postseason college football to the Washington, D.C. region, while supporting the USO, USO-Metro and our nation’s military personnel. Last season the bowl and its supporters donated over $100,000 to the USO and USO-Metro, as well as over 5,000 free tickets to active-duty service members and their families. This year, fans can again lend their support to our armed forces by purchasing tickets for use by military members and their families. The USO’s facility will be located in the Military Village, conveniently located just outside of RFK Stadium and adjacent to the DC Armory entrance on East Capitol Street.
